Kyra Mackenzie Guy – Born August 11, 1998, San Jose, California

Kyra came into this world with a big bang! She was in a hurry to make an entrance and decided to come two months earlier than  her scheduled date. This tenacious little girl showed from a very young age that she had a very strong determination which she is constantly proving in so many different ways.

Her special characteristics are her sweet smile and beautiful doe eyes.

Kyra has the ability of being very deep and wise or very silly.

Oh, and by the way, did I mention the beautiful doe eyes??

I used to love it when she would come visit and try all the different paraphernalia from my costume trunk.

Of all the grandchildren, I think she is the one that inherited mostly from the Greek side, combined also with the Italian from her mom’s side. I love her beautiful olive complexion.

Kyra and her sister Sophie are VERY close. In fact, it has been difficult to find pictures of one without the other.

Like everyone in our family, she is very fond of animals and when she was little she used to say that she wanted to become a vet when she grew up.

I always knew that she would accomplish anything she would set her mind to because she has been so tenacious and determined from birth. She would always give her all when playing soccer even against an opponent team much bigger than her.

We took some fun trips abroad. First, together with Sophie on a cruise to the Bahamas. Before boarding we went swimming with the dolphins in Florida. A very memorable experience!

We also went on our pilgrimage family visit to Greece where Kyra got to experience her heritage and she fell in love with the place, the people and the food.

Kyra blossomed into a wonderful woman. Smart, kind, responsible, sensitive, caring, loyal and loving.

In 2020 she graduated from CSUF with a degree in Health Science, cum laude and on the Dean’s honors list.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, graduations were done online but they figured out a way to take pictures and celebrate with the friends they were sheltering in with.

Kyra continued with her studies and in 2022 she graduated with a Masters in Public Health with an emphasis in Epidemiology.

In 2022 she went with her Professor to several African countries to teach and do research in HIV, Malaria, Drowning and Tobacco.

In 2023 she started her PhD studies.

Like I said earlier, I know she will accomplish whatever she sets her mind to. She is destined to do good in this world.
