Marcela (Iacobescu) Moussou –
born Constanza, Romania June 23, 1919; died Athens, Greece November 10, 1975
Unfortunately I don’t have a good picture of my Mother to give credit to her beauty. She had black jet hair and dark blue-violet eyes (like Elizabeth Taylor).
She was a dainty, refined woman. Her siblings nicknamed her the ‘Countess’ as from early childhood she was a little bit ‘snobbish’. Good manners were very important to her and even through our ‘poor’ refugee years she insisted my sister and I behave like ladies.
My Mother used to tell us that we have an Angel that looks after our family and no matter how hard things got our Angel would come to our help. She gave the example of how lucky we were as refugees that we had so many people helping us through that tough time. I have felt the presence of our Angel at times of need.
She died very young, aged 56 from cancer.
